Full list of Tinubu’s new appointees, portfolios

President Bola Tinubu has approved the following new appointments:

  1. Dr. Nkiruka Maduekwe:

    • Position: Interim Director-General/Chief Executive Officer of the National Council on Climate Change (NCCC)
    • Additional Role: Co-Chairperson of the Intergovernmental Committee on the National Carbon Market Activation Plan (NCMAP)
    • Background: Holds a Bachelor of Law degree, a Master’s degree in Environmental Law & Policy from the University of Dundee (UK), and a Doctorate degree in Law from the University of Hull (UK). She has over 15 years of experience in climate policy development and project implementation and previously served as Nigeria National Coordinator for Climate Parliament and as legal adviser to the NCCC Director-General.
  2. Ibrahim Abdullahi Shelleng:

    • Position: Senior Special Assistant to the President on Climate Finance & Stakeholder Engagement
    • Additional Roles: Secretary of the Intergovernmental Committee on NCMAP, member of the Presidential Committee on Climate Action and Green Economic Solutions, and member of the Presidential Steering Committee on Project Evergreen
    • Background: Holds a Master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA) from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria. He has served in leading roles across multiple financial institutions and was Head of Business Development for the Nigeria Mortgage Refinance Company PLC (NMRC) before this appointment.
  3. Olamide Fagbuji:

    • Position: Senior Special Assistant to the President on Climate Technology and Operations
    • Background: A policy analyst and computer scientist who previously served as Special Assistant to the President on Economic Matters and was most recently the Technical Adviser to the Director-General of the NCCC on Policy Research and Strategy. He will oversee the digitalization of a new open procurement process and cross-departmental procedural optimization initiative at the NCCC Secretariat.

These appointments are effective immediately, with the expectation that the appointees will bring their expertise and discipline to their roles in pursuit of Nigeria’s green industrial development and climate action goals.
