In recognition of his innovative contributions to the Nigerian technology space, The Future Awards Africa has conferred an award of recognition on Mr. Peter Oriri, Publisher of www.naijavoicenews.com
The award ceremony, held at the Vibranium Valley, Ikeja, Lagos brought together those whose endeavours have been beneficial to the Country’s technological advancement, in particular, and socio-economic development, in general.
The event was theme; Freedom, Financials, and the Future of Technology, the networking event honoured 100 innovative and inspiring talents in Nigeria, highlighting ideas, vision, and impact of the sector within the year, while also driving interaction among experts on the factors that support opportunities in the local and international market.
Earlier, Bukonla Adebakin, Project Lead, The Future Awards Africa, explained that the Y!Tech100 represented a forward-thinking platform that understood the importance of technology for economic advancement and nation-building, and also recognised the importance of celebrating creatives and industry players who have consistently contributed to the growth of the sector.
“This year has been highly eventful for technology in Nigeria, especially in improving financial inclusion, expansion of user-friendly hybrid apps by top corporate brands, and new foreign and local investment for tech startups. Apart from celebrating honourees that have been carefully selected after unbiased considerations by the team at YNaija.com and other professionals, discussions at the event dissect the future of technology and how Nigerians can benefit from technological advancements,” said Edwin Okolo, Editor-in-Chief, YNaija.com
The Future Awards Africa has been called the ‘Nobel Prize Award for Young Africans’, and the ‘most important youth awards’ by Forbes. It is a set of prizes given annually to celebrate and accelerate innovation, creativity and enterprise amongst young Africans aged 18 – 31. It has produced over 150 winners and over 1550 nominees since its first edition in 2006. It is presented in conjunction with The Future Project, which has a mandate to build empowered citizens across Africa, through (inclusive) enterprise and (active) citizenship, and has its partners as YNaija, ALAT by Wema Bank, Leadway Insurance and The Future Project, with support from Vibranium Valley.
