A 2023 Frontline Governorship aspirant in Benue State, Senator Gemade has finally opened up on contemporary war of words between Tiv sons, daughters and Traditional institution in Tiv land.
Senator Gemade who made his position known on the issue today in a telephone interview with our correspondent said, as a member of Tiv Supreme council (Ijirtamen I Tiv) and a political chieftain in this country, he cannot be so quick in addressing a vital issue like this without hearing from the both parties.
The Nomyange I Tiv explained further that, “with my position in Tiv land now, I cannot be addressing issue like this on the pages of Newspapers and Facebook, I will invite my in-law Senator George Akume or go to him to know his grievances, then I will hear from my father Tor Tiv and then hear from my children, Governor Samuel Ortom, Senator Gabriel Suswam and Tiv Youth Organization and I believe they will give me listening ears. From there, there will be a room for a round table talk with both parties involved.”
Speaking further, Chief Gemade advised both parties to shelve their swords for the interest of the tiv nation. “What I have to say now is, let there be peace, let’s avoid addressing issues like this on the pages of Newspapers and social media, if we must do it, let’s create an ayatutu Facebook page for a matter like to be discussed”.
The Governorship hopeful revealed his planned formation of Leaders coalition in Tiv nation and Benue at least.
