Ghana is set to introduce a visa-free policy for all African nationals starting in early 2025.
President Nana Akufo-Addo approved the policy change in December, delivering on a promise made during the Africa Prosperity Dialogues.
The new initiative, according to President Akufo-Addo, seeks to strengthen “ties across Africa.”
This decision is expected to boost tourism, trade, and travel to the West African nation, addressing concerns that visa restrictions have hindered these key sectors.
Previously, Ghana granted visa-free entry to citizens of 26 African countries and offered visas on arrival to travelers from 25 others, with only two African nations requiring visas in advance.
With this move, Ghana joins Rwanda, Seychelles, Gambia, and Benin as the fifth African country to offer visa-free access to all African passport holders, further promoting regional integration and mobility across the continent.
