Gift Orban, the promising KAA Gent player from Belgium, will not be able to participate in Nigeria’s 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Sao Tome and Principe due to an injury.
Orban was absent from the team’s most recent training session at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo on Thursday evening. He had sustained the injury during a previous training session on Friday.
The 21-year-old striker had been anticipated to make his debut for the Super Eagles in the match against the True Patriots. However, his maiden appearance for the three-time African champions will have to be postponed.
Despite this setback, 22 other players were in training ahead of the match. New invitees Victor Boniface and Jordan Torunarigha are now in line to make their debut against Adriano Eusebio’s side.
