Girl with 302 score didn’t meet ABU admission requirement – JAMB

The Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB), has said that the young girl who scored 302 in her JAMB did not meet up with the admission requirement to study medicine in Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria.

Speaking during a stakeholders meeting between JAMB and commissioners of education in Abuja on Monday, Jamb Registrar, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, said that even though the girl scored 302 in her JAMB, she did not meet up with the national requirement to study medicine in ABU.

“The girl who scored 302 in Niger state is a brilliant person in Niger but not in Nigeria. 302 was not the required score at the national level when you apply to study medicine in ABU.

” She did not meet up with the requirement/quota on the merit list. She was number 3 on the catchment list in Niger state. The university did good enough by offering her anatomy which she accepted.

“Social media I must confess is doing more harm than good”, Oloyede said.

While disclosing that about 100 persons have so far been arrested for examination malpractices, he decried that the kingpin and his cohorts are currently at large.

” The professional exam taker who has multiple names is at large.

” So far, 100 persons have been arrested while 20 are serving their jail term”.

He further called for the regulation of tutorial centres saying, they are used to perpetrate examination malpractices.

Towards 2020 admission for the board, the JAMB boss revealed that compliance with the National Identity Management Commsssion (NIMC), is a compulsory requirement.

He added that failure to comply with the requirement will attract prosecution.
