God, prayers alone won’t save Nigeria – Omah Lay
Afrobeats star Stanley Omah Didia, popularly known as Omah Lay, has warned that prayers alone cannot rescue Nigeria from its current challenges.
On Thursday, the singer took to X (formerly Twitter) to stress that real change will only come when Nigerians take proactive steps. He wrote:
“No Jesus, no Allah, no prayer is saving us. Nothing changes until we wake TF up.”
Omah Lay’s statement comes amid calls from both Christian and Islamic leaders urging Nigerians to pray for the country as insecurity and economic difficulties escalate.
Other celebrities, including Don Jazzy, Davido, Falz, and Mr Macaroni, have also spoken out following recent attacks, such as the assault on a church in Kwara State and the abduction of schoolgirls in Kebbi State, demanding urgent intervention from authorities.
Singer Yemi Alade, meanwhile, criticized calls for foreign involvement, insisting that African challenges should be addressed with African solutions. She tweeted on Wednesday:
“African problems need African solutions, not new problems.”
Omah Lay’s remarks highlight growing frustration among Nigerians and public figures over the perceived inaction in tackling the nation’s insecurity and socio-economic issues.
