The Gombe State Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal has officially rejected the petition submitted by the African Democratic Congress (ADC) against Governor Inuwa Yahaya and his Deputy, Manassah Daniel, both representing the All Progressives Congress (APC).
ADC had contested the validity of Yahaya’s declaration and raised concerns regarding multiple names and variations in the arrangement of the deputy’s certificates, lacking accompanying affidavits. The party argued that these discrepancies rendered their electoral ticket null and void. Moreover, the ADC alleged instances of corrupt practices and widespread vote-buying during the election.
However, the tribunal ultimately dismissed the petition due to insufficient evidence presented by the ADC. The court emphasized that this matter pertained to pre-election issues and clarified that the deputy met the minimum certificate requirement to stand for office.
Meanwhile, the tribunal is actively deliberating on other pending judgments related to the election. Stay tuned for further updates.
