A popular market in Lagos State, the Ladipo Plank Market, was ravaged by a midnight blaze, leading to significant damage to merchandise and property.
Dr. Femi Oke-Osanyitolu, the Permanent Secretary of the Lagos State Emergency Management Authority, confirmed that there were no casualties in the incident.
Oke-Osanyitolu stated, “Our agency responded promptly to distress calls and arrived at the scene of the incident, where the plank market was engulfed in flames.”
“Thankfully, no lives were lost. Nevertheless, the fire has destroyed goods and property, the extent of which is yet to be determined.”
As of 6 a.m., response teams from LASEMA, the Lagos State Fire Service, and the Federal Fire Service continue to work diligently to extinguish the fire.
