Today, the search engine giant, Google.com has dedicated its homepage logo to jollof rice, one of the most iconic foods of Nigeria, nay West Africa.

Jollof rice is a rice dish from West Africa. The dish is typically made with long-grain rice, tomatoes, onions, spices, vegetables and meat in a single pot, although its ingredients and preparation methods vary across different regions.

It wrote:

Today’s Doodle celebrates jollof rice, a quintessential West African dish simmered in reduced tomatoes, onions, peppers and regional spices. On this day each year, rice farmers plant and reap a bountiful harvest — as cooks across West Africa prepare to make fresh jollof. Nigeria-based guest artist Haneefah Adam created the artwork and Senegalese jazz musician Hervé Samb composed the music.
