Google marks World Teachers’ Day 2023 with unique doodle

Today, Google marks World Teachers’ Day with a unique regional doodle.

The animated doodle portrays the letters spelling “Google” as leaves reading books, being nurtured by the sun (depicted as the letter O), all set against a notebook backdrop. The theme for this year’s celebration is “the teachers we need for the education we want.”

The reach of Google’s special doodle extends to various countries including the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Iraq, Egypt, Libya, Tunisia, Algeria, Morocco, and Nigeria.

Google’s blog conveyed a warm message, stating, “Happy World Teachers’ Day 2023! Today’s Doodle honours educators across the world who nurture students to become the best version of themselves.”

“To educators: Thank you for all that you do to help your students grow by instilling a love for learning.”

World Teachers’ Day is an annual event celebrated on October 5th in the UAE, but the date varies globally. For instance, it is recognized on April 13 in Ecuador, and in May for countries such as Mexico, Colombia, and South Korea. There are five different dates in September, mainly for countries in South America and Taiwan.

World Teachers’ Day commemorates the significant work of educators and was initially acknowledged in 1994 by the International Labour Organisation and UNESCO, aiming to address the status and situation of teachers worldwide.

UNESCO estimates that by 2030, the world will need over 69 million new teachers, emphasizing the growing shortage in this profession.

Google frequently acknowledges major human accomplishments, events, and historical milestones through its Doodles, usually accessible in specific regions. However, this new animated doodle seems to be viewable on screens worldwide.
