Gov Alia announces establishment of BSU satellite campus in Benue South

Governor Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia has announced plans to establish a satellite campus of Benue State University (BSU) in the Benue South Senatorial District, as part of efforts to decentralize education and make higher learning accessible to more residents of the state.

Speaking during the University’s combined convocation ceremony, the Governor emphasized that the initiative would address the increasing demand for tertiary education at the grassroots.

“This strategic expansion will enhance access to education and strengthen the University’s role in developing the human capital base across the state,” he said.

Governor Alia also announced a donation of 500 computers to the University’s Computer-Based Test Center and introduced a 100% Master’s Degree scholarship for all graduates with First Class honors. He urged the graduates to become ambassadors of integrity and hard work while contributing positively to society.

The Governor further revealed that his administration has submitted an executive bill to the Benue State House of Assembly to rename the university as Reverend Father Moses Adasu University in honor of the institution’s founder. He expressed optimism that the university would soon distinguish itself globally through excellence in academics and research.

While commending the university’s management for its effective implementation of the Center for Food Technology and Research (CEFTER) program, Governor Alia pledged to sustain its partnership with the World Bank and revitalize the Wannune Tomato Company and Taraku Mills to address post-harvest losses and create job opportunities for the youth.
