Gov Alia commissions four BIPC factories to boost industrial growth in Benue

Benue State Governor, Rev. Fr. Dr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia, has inaugurated four new factories established by the Benue Investment and Property Company Limited (BIPC) to spur industrial growth, create jobs, and enhance internally generated revenue in the state.

The commissioned facilities include the BIPC Polythene and Nylon Printing Factory and the BIPC Water Expansion Factory, both located near the company’s headquarters, as well as the BIPC Nails Ltd and BIPC Bread Expansion Factory situated along Makurdi-Naka Road.

Represented by Hon. Alumo Mannaseh Orpin, Commissioner for Industry, Trade, and Investment, Governor Alia emphasized the projects’ significance in reducing dependency on imports, generating employment, and positioning Benue State as a key industrial hub in Nigeria.

“These projects will create thousands of direct and indirect jobs, boost our internally generated revenue, and mark a new chapter in our journey towards an economic revolution. Our administration is committed to fostering an environment that encourages investment and sustainable growth,” the governor stated.

Expanding Opportunities
Dr. Raymond Asemakaha-CFA, Managing Director of BIPC, highlighted the economic impact of the factories, which are expected to create over 700 direct and indirect jobs and meet rising demand for locally produced goods. He also announced the forthcoming launch of the BIPC Premium Lager Beer on December 22, 2024, under the Food Basket Brewery, a BIPC subsidiary.

“This initiative is designed to stimulate economic growth, reduce unemployment, and improve the quality of life for the people of Benue State,” Dr. Asemakaha noted.

In a goodwill message, Chief Mrs. Cynthia Kundumiyol Dajo, wife of the Speaker of the Benue State House of Assembly, commended the leadership of BIPC and called for continued support for its initiatives.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks from the Company Secretary, Josephat Terna Ioryoosu Esq., who reaffirmed BIPC’s commitment to fulfilling its mandate under the governor’s administration.
