Gov Alia mourns death of Chief of Army Staff, Lt. General Taoreed Lagbaja

Governor Hyacinth Alia, expresses deep sadness over the passing of Lieutenant General Taoreed Abiodun Lagbaja, Nigeria’s Chief of Army Staff.

The Presidency announced on Wednesday, November 6, 2024, that Lt. General Lagbaja, aged 56, passed away on Tuesday night in Lagos after a period of illness.

In a condolence message to President and Commander-in-Chief of the Nigerian Armed Forces, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Governor Alia described the late Chief of Army Staff as a dedicated leader who made significant contributions to maintaining national security.

Governor Alia highlighted Lt. General Lagbaja’s deep commitment to addressing the security challenges in Benue State, noting his close cooperation with the state administration to restore peace.

He offered prayers for comfort to Lagbaja’s family, the Nigerian Armed Forces, and the nation, and he prayed for eternal rest for the late general.
