Gov Alia reacts as gunmen kill scores in Benue

The Governor of Benue State, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia, has extended his heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims of the recent attack by armed herders in the Wa-ndoo community of Mbalom, Gwer-East Local Government Area.

He emphatically states that his administration will not rest until the perpetrators of this atrocious act are apprehended and brought to justice.

In the wake of the Thursday invasion of the Wa-ndoo community in Mbalom by armed herders, resulting in the loss of numerous lives, the Governor has instructed security forces in the state to swiftly pursue and arrest these criminal elements.

“We issued clear orders for these criminals to vacate the state immediately. Additionally, we set a deadline for those engaged in open grazing to either adhere to the law or leave the state within 14 days,” the Governor emphasized.

“The expiration of that ultimatum has passed. It is evident that the events at Wa-ndoo were a deliberate attempt to challenge the determination of my administration on this critical issue that we have placed as a top priority.”

The Governor further emphasized that criminals, no matter their guise, who enter the state should be aware that their time is up. He reiterates the firm commitment to the rigorous enforcement of the Open Grazing Prohibition and Ranches Establishment Law in Benue State.
