Gov Namadi stands firm on reappointing former commissioners

Malam Umar Namadi, the Governor of Jigawa State, has defended his decision to reappoint several commissioners who previously served under ex-Governor Muhammad Badaru Abubakar’s administration. He asserted that their reappointment was solely based on their competence and dedication to public service.

In an interview with BBC HAUSA on Friday, Governor Namadi addressed criticisms regarding the reappointment of these commissioners. He clarified that during his time as a commissioner and deputy governor, he had worked closely with these individuals and had firsthand knowledge of their capabilities and limitations.

The governor emphasized that there was nothing inappropriate about this move, especially considering that he sought trustworthy individuals who would prioritize the welfare of the state’s citizens. In addition to the reappointed commissioners, Governor Namadi also recently inaugurated 16 new commissioners, eight of whom had previously served in the previous administration. These appointments were made after their confirmation by the state House of Assembly.
