Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State has appointed Caretaker Committee chairmen for the 23 local government councils in the state.
The list of the appointment which was made through a nomination exercise of stakeholders from various local government areas was on Friday 31st May forwarded to the Benue state House of Assembly for screening and confirmation.
According to a correspondent from the Governor to the Assembly, Gov Ortom urged the lawmakers to take neccessary action to confirm the appointment in order not to create a vacuum at the third tier of government and thanked them for their cooperation.
As a result of the governor’s charge, the Assembly swiftly confirmed the following on the same date;
James Oche = Ado,
Ankwa Amo = Logo,
Iberlogo Tyokaa = Ukum,
Virginia Kpindi = Katsina- Ala,
Bemsen Agugu = Ushongo,
Ibrahim Anor for Vandeikya Local Government.
Tersugha Yakwan = Kwande,
Francis Ayaga = Gwer West,
Nicholas Utukwa = Gwer East,
Mwuese Agber = Makurdi,
Juliana Suswam = Tarka,
Jacob Iorver = Gboko
Anthony Shawon = Guma.
More of the confirmed list are Dooshima Orlu = Buruku, Prince Onuh Odoh = Ogbadibo, Amina Audu = Okpokwu, Umaru Onyemyoma = Apa, Joseph Ipenyi = Obi, Alicia Eru = Oju, George Alli = Otukpo, Aliyu Suleman = Agatu and Adakole Abutu for Ohimini.
Meanwhile, the nomination of Adakole Abutu was asked to be stepped down by the Speaker to allow stakeholders from the area have further consultation.
