Gov Ortom assures security agents of continued support

Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom has assured security agencies operating in the state of continued support for the safety of lives and property.

The Governor spoke today at the Benue Peoples House Makurdi when the newly deployed Commissioner of Police Benue State Command, CP Audu Madaki paid him a visit.

He acknowledged the competence of the Commissioner to deliver in his new assignment based on his credentials and commended the Inspector General of Police and the Police Service Commission for sending such an experienced officer to Benue.

Governor Ortom while tasking security operatives on professionalism and respect for human rights, lamented that sentiments had overtaken patriotism and the rule of law in Nigeria, a development he said is retrogressive.

He commended the joint security outfit codenamed Operation Zenda for its strides in dealing with security and pledged continued support to security agencies working in the State and urged Benue people to cooperate and support them to succeed.

CP Audu Madaki assured the Governor and people of the state of practical policing under his leadership, stressing that he would ensure the rule of law takes its course while jungle justice of any kind would not be condoned.

He intimated the Governor that a robust crime prevention strategy was being put in place starting with Makurdi which involves effective patrol sectors, pointing out that synergy with sister security agencies and professionalism would guide their operations.
