Internally displaced persons living at UBE temporary junior secondary school in Naka, Gwer West local government Area of Benue state on Saturday March 16th, 2019 took custody of thousands of assorted food items ranging from maize,millet,and garri,as well as non food items including; mats,blankets,mosquito nets respectively.
Speaking during the distribution process,the Executive Secretary,state Emergency Management Agency, Hon. Emmanuel Shior told the IDPs that governor Samuel Ortom felt concerned about their plight and was not leaving any stone unturned to ensure that they always get food and other relief materials to cushion the devastating situation had found themselves in as a result of the activities of the Fulani Militia.
Hon. Shior further said that, the Ortom administration was doing everything possible to ensure that the IDPs returned to their ancestral homes especially as the rainy season approaches.
Hon Shior noted that, governor Samuel Ortom was very appreciative of the massive votes he received from the people of the Area and appealed to them to sustain the tempo in the Saturday 23,2019 gubernatorial elections.
Earlier in his remarks, the Ter Tyoshin, His Royal Highness Ayua Abomtse, represented by Mue Ter Mbakpa 1 His Royal Highness Chief Lawrence Ajir expressed joy over the governor’s gesture and assured him of their continued support and prayers at all times.
It will be recalled that the relief materials were earlier taken to the temporary IDP camp at Naka, Gwer West local government which the Executive Secretary did not waste time in commencing the distribution process which was described as a huge success.
The profiling of the IDPs had earlier been carried out also.
