Gov Ortom donates relief items to IDPs as he celebrates his 60th birthday

The Executive Governor of Benue State, Dr. Samuel Ortom has marked his 60th birthday with the distribution of relief materials to the Internally Displaced Persons across the Seven IDPs camps.

The distribution of relief materials to IDPs across the Seven camps was performed by the Executive Secretary, Benue State Emergency Management Agency with some of the Governor’s appointees present at the SEMA headquarters, Makurdi.

The Executive Secretary, Benue State Emergency Management Agency, Dr. Emmanuel Shior who made the distribution on behalf of the Governor, identified the relief materials to include: rice, yams, vegetable oil, garri, maggi, indomie and salt.

He said, the items will be distributed to the various IDPs camps under the strict supervision of the Governor’s appointees.

The SEMA Boss stressed that, the distribution of the relief materials was in line with the Governor’s concern for the IDPs as well as his passion to humanity.

Dr. Shior added that the Governor has decided to celebrate his birthday with the Persons of Concern to appreciate God for keeping him alive even though his not happy with humanitarian challenges faced by his people ranging from herdsmen attacks, reprisal attacks to Ishangev-Tiv in Konshisha Local Government Area by the Nigerian Soldiers as well as the Tanker fire accidents at Oshigbudu in Agatu Local Government Area .
