Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State has described the rumour of his alleged impeachment as baseless and and lack credibility.
Ortom made the statement while reacting to media speculations that the state House of Assembly had sat to consider his impeachment.
Tahav Agerzua, the Special Adviser on Media and ICT to the governor said in a statement that the speculation came in the wake of another lie that he was about to dissolve the 23 councils in the state.
“From the provisions of the 1999 Constitution as amended, it is impracticable for any House of Assembly to impeach a governor in one day. According to constitutional provisions, the processes leading to the impeachment of a governor take not less than three months to consummate,” Tahav said.
