Akwa Ibom State Governor, Umo Eno, has provided insights into the creation of the Ministry of Internal Security, emphasizing its role in maintaining uninterrupted peace and safeguarding lives and property across urban and rural areas.
Addressing the public during the inauguration of commissioners and a Special Adviser in Uyo on Thursday, Governor Eno stressed that the new ministry will collaborate closely with security agencies to uphold the prevailing atmosphere of tranquility in the state.
Governor Eno urged the appointed Commissioners, all of whom were part of the previous State Executive Council, to demonstrate their competence and justify their reappointment by delivering tangible results. He highlighted the populace’s expectation for outcome-driven performance.
Under his administration’s new execution and implementation framework, Governor Eno called upon the commissioners to fully execute their responsibilities within specified timelines, as clear deliverables have been outlined.
He expressed, “Today, as Hon. Commissioners, you have a well-distilled and condensed Roadmap to guide you in the execution of the responsibilities of your office. You were brought back to ensure and facilitate continuity, and you must justify this trust we have invested in you.”
Drawing inspiration from his political mentor, the governor emphasized the significance of delivering results rather than mere efforts. He stressed that the people of Akwa Ibom demand tangible outcomes, particularly in the realm of agricultural revolution to ensure food security.
Governor Eno underlined the importance of bridging the development gap in rural areas and improving infrastructure, in response to the aspirations of the rural dwellers. The ultimate goal is to foster joy and security for the state’s residents.
In line with this vision, the creation of the Ministry of Internal Security aims to ensure an environment of constant peace and safety for citizens, both in urban centers and rural communities. The state government is committed to enhancing the lives of its people and creating a secure haven for everyone.
