Following the release of the timetable for political activities leading up to the 2023 general elections, electorate in Benue State have been asked to rise up and take a stand.

Recall that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had last week published the timetable for the 2023 polls.

Residents of the state, especially eligible voters have been advised to queue behind the state governor, Samuel Ortom in his bid to represent the good people of Benue North at the Senate.

Magdalye Dura, the Special Adviser to Benue State Governor on SDGs, NEPAD and Development Corporations, who made the call in a statement on Tuesday, said Governor Ortom has served Benue well as a Governor would will match and supersede the exceptionally high standards he has already set for himself in the senate.
Dura said they will explore all meaningful partnership channels and opportunities to make sure Ortom gets to the Senate to continue to stand and speak for the people of Benue State.

The statement reads below.

As men and women jostle for soon to be vacant political offices, the good people of Benue cannot afford to shortchange themselves. It is for this reason that we must look before we leap. We must carefully weigh the options before us and, measuring by certain parameters, determine who we cast our lot with.

We must be guided by facts and not just sentiments which are often times misleading. And there is one man who has a track record that can stand up against any kind of honest scrutiny:Governor Samuel Ortom was trusted and has delivered; the evidence is littered all over the State in various important sectors.

The Governor’s frontline leadership, national pacesetting exploits, and legacies are glaring for all men and women of goodwill to judge. Nevertheless, for the sake of emphasis, it is needful that a front be formed to ensure that Benue people are constantly reminded of previous meritorious service now that he has once again offered himself to serve the interest of the people he cares so much about.

That is why after his declaration for the Senate, an umbrella body will be formed under my leadership to embark on aggressive advocacy and sensitisation campaigns to ensure that Governor Ortom with God on our side, remains in a position where he can still serve the people of Benue.

The reward for a job well done is even more responsibility. Governor Ortom has served Benue well as a Governor, and I have no doubt that he will match and supersede the exceptionally high standards he has already set for himself. We have seen in him a sacrificial leader who is willing to courageously stand by and with his people; we have seen in him a visionary leader, but most importantly we have seen in him a God fearing leader.

He has never been willing to be politically correct while allowing the future of his people to be mortgaged. It is with such disposition that His Excellency has continued to dare the powers that be and chart paths that have changed the course of our nation’s history for good.

His kind of man is lacking in our nation’s political space. Having therefore found one such leader in him, many of us are willing to do whatever we legitimately can to safeguard his legacies and make sure he is in a position to do even more.

The group will work to pool resources together and assemble all who believe in the man and leader Samuel Ortom under one united banner. It will put modalities and structures in place to ensure that the legacies of the Governor are jealously protected and rightfully situated in the annals of history in addition to campaigning tirelessly for his election into the Senate.

We shall welcome constructive inputs and explore all meaningful partnership channels and opportunities in order to achieve our goal of ensuring that the Dependable Workman and Defender of the Benue Valley, Dr. Samuel Ortom continues to shine the light and fight for us.
