By Ede Ogaba Ede

Benue State governor, Samuel Ortom today took the case of the deplorable Otukpo township road to the minister of Works and Housing,  Babatunde Fashola with a call on him to intervene immediately and save commuters the trauma of passing through what he calls a death trap.

Governor Ortom, who spoke through his deputy, Engr. Benson Abounu at a virtual meeting of the Nigerian Governors Forum told the minister, who came to brief the Forum that the road which is a gateway between the North and the South of the country has become impassable and needs urgent palliative measures to enable road users ply it.

Responding, Mr Fashola directed that the case be communicated to the Federal Controller of Works, Benue State for immediate intervention.

It could be recalled that due to the magnitude of the road failure, and the difficulties commuters go through using it, concerned Idoma patriots led by AVM Monday Morgan are currently raising funds through voluntary donations to rehabilitate it.

This comes after earlier individual efforts by Benue State deputy governor, Engr. Benson Abounu and the Senator representing Benue South senatorial district, Comrade Abba Patrick Moro
