Govs Adeleke of Osun, Kefas of Taraba shun PDP convention in Ibadan

At least two Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governors previously accused of aligning with the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) are conspicuously absent from the ongoing PDP National Convention in Ibadan, Oyo State.

The absent governors are Ademola Adeleke of Osun State and Agbu Kefas of Taraba State.

Meanwhile, governors Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa State, Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau State, Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State, Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State, and the host governor, Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, were all spotted at the venue.

There are also indications that Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, may boycott the event due to his perceived closeness to the Nyesom Wike–led faction of the party. Wike, who currently serves as Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has been at the center of the party’s internal crisis.

Despite conflicting court orders seeking to stop the exercise, the convention has already commenced, DAILY POST reports.

While the Wike camp has opposed the convention, the Umar Damagum-led leadership of the PDP has insisted that the elective process must go on.

Governors Adeleke and Kefas had in the past been accused of making covert moves to defect to the APC—claims they have consistently denied.
