By: Jimin Geoffrey

Following the declaration of Governor Samuel Ortom as Governor-elect in the March 23rd supplementary Governorship election in Benue State, various groups, individuals and organisations have been sending in congratulatory messages to identify with the Governor on his reelection.

One of such groups is the forum of Former Members of the Benue State House of Assembly which congratulated the Governor and his deputy, Engr. Benson Abounu on their well deserved victory.

The forum which spoke in a statement jointly signed by its Chairman and Secretary General, Dr. Sylvester Atachin and David Egboja respectively urged the Governor to continue to be a father for all, even as they also charged the Benue State House of Assembly to continue to work harmoniously with the executive arm of government in order to fast-track development.

The Evangelical Church Winning All, ECWA, worldwide, in a statement by its President, Rev. Stephen Panya Baba urged the Governor to run a government that is God-glorifying and people oriented.

He pledged continued prayers from the Church and other forms of support for the Governor and the entire people of Benue State.

Relatedly, Forum of Former State PDP Executives under the chairmanship of Chief Mike Iduma described the reelection of the Governor as a true demonstration by Benue people that they really understand democracy in a federated nation state and that the power and right of choosing a leader lies with the people.

The forum expressed hope that the Governor would use the renewed covenant he has with Benue people and lead them to the promised land.

Hembe Shambe Village from Vandeikya Local Government Area through Professor Tseaa Shambe while congratulating the Governor on his reelection said the overwhelming support for the Governor at the polls was a clear indication that only the people of Benue State and not outsiders can decide who governs them.

He prayed God to grant the Governor the strength and grace to overcome whatever difficulties that might have faced him during his first tenure including payment of outstanding salaries, pensions and gratuities.
