Guaranty Trust Bank (GTBank) has announced an upward review of its SMS transaction alert fee, raising the charge from N4 to N6 per message. The new rate will take effect on Thursday, May 1, 2025.

In a notice to customers on Wednesday, the bank attributed the adjustment to increased telecom service rates.

“Dear valued customer, please be informed that effective Thursday, May 1, 2025, the SMS transaction alert fee will increase from N4 to N6 per message,” the bank stated. “This adjustment is due to a recent increase in telecom rates as communicated by the telecommunication service providers.”

GTBank emphasized the importance of SMS alerts for account monitoring and fraud detection, noting that customers rely on them to stay informed and secure.

“Transaction alerts help you keep track and stay in control of activities on your account,” it added.

However, the bank also provided customers with the option to opt out of SMS notifications. Those who prefer alternative channels can fill out the transaction alert preference form available on the bank’s website and send it to gtbankmailsupport@gtbank.com.

For further assistance, customers are encouraged to contact the bank’s dedicated customer service lines.
