Staff of Delta State University (DELSU), Abraka, are mourning the loss of one of their colleagues, Mr. Olisaemeka Chukwuma, who was tragically killed at his home in Asaba over the weekend.
Chukwuma, 56, a member of the Bursary Department, was attacked at his residence in the St. Bridges area of Umueji, Asaba, Delta State capital. He had reportedly returned home for his routine weekend visit when the incident occurred.
Describing the incident as shocking, the university’s bursar, Mrs. Otimeyin Ekakitie-Omajuwa, expressed deep sadness over the loss. “He was a very good, jolly fellow. He had a great relationship with everyone. You would never hear him raise his voice. He was always smiling and happy,” she said, praying for the family to find strength during this difficult time.
Mr. Moses Darah, another staff member, mourned Chukwuma on Facebook, describing him as a peaceful and jovial person. “I urge the police to thoroughly investigate this incident and bring those responsible to justice. Asaba is no longer safe; we are confused and concerned about the situation,” he wrote.
The Delta State Police Command’s spokesperson, SP Bright Edafe, confirmed the incident and assured that an investigation is underway.
