Suspected kidnappers intercepted a Benue Links Bus on Sunday night, abducting fifteen passengers, including a Nigeria Television Authority (NTA) staff, Mr. Thomas Tikyaa, an Accountant. The abduction occurred as Mr. Tikyaa was en route from Abia State to Benue to visit his family after being transferred from Makurdi Zonal Network Office.
This is coming barely a week after some gunmen in Ondo hijacked a fully-loaded Benue Links bus and abducted its occupants.
The incident took place between Ugbokolo in Opkopwu and Otukpa in Ogbadibo local government areas of Benue state. Shockingly, only four passengers managed to escape, leaving eleven individuals currently held hostage by the abductors.
Zonal Director Pam Dung Nyam has urgently written a complaint to the Commissioner of Police, Benue State Command, seeking swift intervention to rescue the victims. In the letter, Nyam formally reported the kidnap, expressing concern for the safety of Mr. Tikyaa, a valuable member of the NTA family.
Commissioner of Police Bartholomew Onyeka, confirmed the kidnap and emphasized that investigations are underway to identify and apprehend the culprits responsible for this distressing crime. However, he did not disclose the exact number of victims in the vehicle.
