Gunmen kidnap daughter of ex-Jigawa speaker, two others, kill policeman

Gunmen on Monday abducted the daughter of Isah Zakari, a former Speaker of the Jigawa State House of Assembly and one other person at Bosuwa village in Maigatari Local Government Area of the State.

The assailants were said to have operated in Jahun Local Government, where they abducted a business mogul before proceeding to Bosuwa village.

They headed to the home of the former speaker where they abducted his 25-year-old daughter, Zainab Isah Zakari and one Sule Isah, aged 70.

It was learnt that efforts of security operatives to rescue the victims were rebuffed as one police officer was killed in the process.

The Police Public Relations Officer of the Jigawa Command, SP Abdu Jinjiri, has confirmed the incident.

He stated that the command has launched a manhunt operation to apprehend the culprits and rescue the abducted persons.

“The Police in Maigatari LGA received a distress call that some hoodlums numbering about nine with dangerous weapons stormed a village called Bosuwa in Maigatari LGA and took away one Alh. Ali Dankoli 70yrs old and Zainab Isah 25yrs old, members of different families both of Bosuwa village.

“In this regard, the Police rushed to the scene, blocked all the entries and exits of the village, and gave the hoodlums a hot chase. In trying to escape, the hoodlums opened fire on the policemen trying to rescue the captives safely. As a result, one policeman was shot dead”, he added

The incident happened barely 24 hours after gunmen invaded a residence in Dutse, Jigawa State, and abducted a young lady.

The gunmen stormed the residence around 1am midnight on Monday, December 21 and abducted the victim identified as Zainab Isa Zakari Bosuwa, a 400 level student of Sule Lamido University, Jigawa State.

The attackers also went away with some valuables such as money and mobile phones.

Recall that earlier in November, the daughter of the former Clerk to the Jigawa House of Assembly, Alhaji Sabo Wada Ringim, was abducted by kidnappers.

Saratu, a 20-year-old bride-to-be, was kidnapped two weeks to her wedding.
