Gunmen suspected of being kidnappers have abducted Aribibia John Fubara, a Director with the Rivers State Board of Internal Revenue Service.
The incident occurred on Saturday at Okrika Waterfront, near Marine Base
in Port Harcourt.
Reports indicate that the kidnappers, who numbered around six and were heavily armed, fired sporadically into the air to create a diversion.
They then identified their target and forcibly took Fubara into a boat before fleeing the scene.
When reached for comment, Grace Iringe-Koko, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), confirmed that the command is aware of the abduction.
She stated that the State Commissioner of Police, Olatunji Disu, has instructed tactical units to ensure the safe release of the victim.
A manhunt has been launched to apprehend the suspects and bring them to justice.
