The traditional ruler of Owa-Onire in the Kwara South Senatorial District of Kwara State and his wife have been kidnapped by unknown gunmen.
Reports reveal that the monarch was taken alongside his wife and driver.
The development was confirmed on Saturday by the Police Public Relations Officer of the State Police Command, Okasanmi Ajayi.
He disclosed that two suspects were in police custody and that the traditional ruler’s wife had been rescued while efforts were ongoing to get back the others.
Okasanmi added that a team of investigators had been dispatched by the State Police Commissioner, Paul Odama.
According to him, a detailed report on the matter would be made public as soon as the investigation is concluded.
