Gunmen kidnap PDP Chieftain, Otunba Akika in Oyo

Gunmen have reportedly kidnapped Otunba Benedict Akika, a prominent ally of Governor Seyi Makinde and a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo State.

The abduction occurred late Wednesday night at Olohundaaba in the Lagelu Local Government Area of the state.

Unconfirmed reports suggest that Akika, commonly known as “Benee,” was taken from his residence at Idi-Ape along the Akobo Ojurin-Olohunda road in Ibadan. There are also unverified claims that one person was killed during the incident.

At the time of reporting, details about the kidnapping remain unclear, but relevant authorities have stated they are actively addressing the situation.

Attempts to reach the state police headquarters for comment were unsuccessful, as the Public Relations Officer, SP Adewale Osifeso, did not respond to inquiries.
