Gunmen have killed the Chief Security Officer (CSO) of Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium, Richard Timothy, and his 23-year-old son, Silas, at their residence in Igwuruta-Ali, near Port Harcourt.
Timothy’s widow, Grace, recounted that about five gunmen, dressed in black, ambushed them as they arrived home on January 31. As their son opened the gate, the attackers stormed in, shooting Timothy multiple times in the head before turning their guns on Silas, a recent University of Port Harcourt graduate awaiting his National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) deployment.
“I managed to escape, but when I returned, I found my son’s lifeless body on the floor,” Grace said. She also revealed that the assailants took her into a nearby bush, demanding money before eventually abandoning her to flee with an injured accomplice.
She claimed her husband had previously received threats due to his efforts to prevent the looting of stadium properties. “He had reported these threats to the police, but nothing was done,” she said, calling for justice.
The Rivers State Police Command confirmed the incident, stating that officers recovered three expended AK-47 cartridges at the crime scene. The police assured that an investigation is underway to track down the perpetrators.
