Gunmen kill police inspector, two others in Nasarawa, steal rifle
Gunmen have shot dead a police inspector and two civilians during an attack on a patrol team in Doma Local Government Area of Nasarawa State, the police have confirmed.
The incident occurred around 6:30 p.m. on December 14, 2025, along the Ajimaka Village road leading to Rukubi town.
Sources said the patrol team, attached to Operation Restore Peace and led by Inspector Jampi Mbursa, was ambushed by unidentified gunmen while carrying out a routine patrol with vigilante members.
During the attack, Inspector Mbursa and two civilians Julius Igbogh and Raphaeal Julius, both from Ajimaka Village were shot by the assailants.
The attackers reportedly made away with the inspector’s AK-47 rifle loaded with 30 rounds of live ammunition before escaping.
All three victims were rushed to Rukubi General Hospital, where they were confirmed dead by medical personnel. Their bodies have since been deposited at the hospital mortuary.
Police authorities said efforts are underway to track down the attackers and recover the stolen firearm.
