Gunmen kill two brothers, okada rider in Benue
Gunmen have reportedly killed three persons, including two brothers, in Daudu, a community in Guma Local Government Area of Benue State.
The deceased siblings, Ortwer Tyonum and Aondohemba Tyonum, were said to have been attacked on Sunday evening while working on their family rice farm.
In a related incident within the same area, a lone motorcyclist was also murdered by suspected assailants.
According to eyewitness accounts, the brothers were threshing rice at about 5pm in preparation for the Christmas season when the attackers suddenly emerged and macheted them to death.
Ortwer Tyonum, the older of the two, was a graduate of the Federal University of Agriculture, Makurdi, while his younger brother, Aondohemba, was a 300-level undergraduate of the same institution.
A third brother who went with them to the farm was said to have escaped without injury.
A local resident, Jonah Iorundu, who spoke with our correspondent on the phone, disclosed that the motorcyclist was riding alone when he was ambushed and killed by the attackers.
He further revealed that three other people sustained injuries during the violence and are currently undergoing medical treatment.
Attempts to get a reaction from the Benue State Police Command spokesperson, DSP Udeme Edet, were unsuccessful as of the time of filing this report.
