Armed hoodlums on Tuesday, reportedly stormed Omoba Police Station in Isiala Ngwa South council area, Abia State and looted guns and others weapons in the armoury, and in the process killed a policeman.
IDOMA VOICE gathered that the attack happened at the early hours of Tuesday at the station located along the Umuene – Omoba road.
According to eyewitness reports, the gunmen overpowered the police and gained access to the station and looted the arms and ammunition stored in the armoury.
The gunmen, operating on motorcycles, were said to have opened fire on approaching the station as policemen on guard repelled the attack.
One of the policemen was reportedly gunned down by the hoodlums dying on the spot.
The Abia State Police Command, spokesman, SP Geoffrey Ogbonna, who confirmed the incident to journalists, said investigation is going, adding that no arrest has been made.
