Gunmen strike in Benue, kill three in Logo

Gunmen suspected to be armed herdsmen have reportedly killed three individuals in Imatom village, Logo local government area of Benue State. The attack occurred on Saturday, according to local reports.

A community leader, Anawa Joseph, revealed that the killings by suspected herders have escalated in the local government area, especially targeting peasant farmers to enable cattle grazing on their crops.

The victims of the recent attack were identified as Tertsea Terkimbi Adagundu, Tertsea Mkposu, and Mimidoo Umburga. Their bodies have been deposited at the NKST hospital morgue in Anyiin.

Anawa Joseph, who documented the series of renewed attacks by Fulani herdsmen militia since the beginning of September 2023, highlighted that this Saturday attack marked the fourth in the area.

He called on both state and federal governments to urgently deploy security to secure the area and protect the residents.

The Police Public Relations Officer for the state command, Catherine Anene, stated that she did not have specific information about the Saturday attack.
