Gunmen in Delta State, on the 22nd of July 2023, abducted several commuters, including a 24-year-old daughter of a newspaper vendor, as they were traveling in a commercial bus along the Jesse-Oben Road. This road lies on the border between Edo and Delta States.
According to reports, the kidnappers, believed to be involved in such activities, fired gunshots into the air to terrify their captives. In a chilling twist, they spared the driver and conductor of the bus, which was en route from Sapele to Asaba, allowing them to escape. The gunmen then led the remaining passengers deep into a nearby forest.
As of the time of this report, the Edo State Police Command has not yet officially confirmed the incident of the kidnapping.
The dreadful incident has left a newspaper vendor from Sapele, who happens to be the father of one of the victims, in a state of distress and desperation. He passionately pleads with the relevant authorities to intensify their efforts in securing the safe release of his daughter.
