In a tragic incident, a group of unidentified gunmen has taken the lives of nine members belonging to a local vigilante organization known as Yan Ba Beli. The attack occurred in Gamji village, situated within the Ningi Local Government Area of Bauchi State.
According to reports, these local vigilantes were ambushed last Sunday as they scoured the forest in pursuit of the bandits responsible for terrorizing communities in Ningi. Speaking under anonymity, one of the local vigilante members in the region revealed that the bandits meticulously laid an ambush within the forest. With a sudden burst of gunfire, they overpowered the vigilantes, resulting in the immediate loss of nine lives and causing injuries to others.
Hon. Ibrahim Zubairu Mato, the Caretaker Chairman of Ningi LGA, also confirmed the incident. He reassured the community that the government would exert every effort to safeguard the lives and property of its innocent residents.
When contacted, the spokesman of the State Police Command, SP Ahmed Wakil did not respond to messages and calls put across to him as of the time of filing this report.
