The President of the Nigeria Football Federation, Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau, has delivered a stirring message of encouragement to the Super Falcons as they gear up to face co-hosts Australia in the FIFA Women’s World Cup finals on Thursday.
With the first round of matches concluded, Nigeria remains the only African team yet to taste defeat in the tournament.
“As nine-time champions of Africa and one of only seven countries to have participated in every edition of the FIFA Women’s World Cup, Nigeria represents the true giant and hope of the African continent in Australia. While we expect Morocco, Zambia, and South Africa to bounce back in their next matches, my message is for the Super Falcons to focus intensely and seize victory against Australia to keep Africa’s spirit alive,” Gusau said.
In the opening matches, Zambia suffered a 0-5 loss to Japan, South Africa was narrowly defeated 1-2 by Sweden, and Morocco faced a tough 0-6 defeat against Germany.
“I urge the girls to give their all in this crucial match. It is a moment where we must score goals and prove our determination to succeed,” Gusau emphasized.
