Manchester City striker Erling Haaland is just one goal away from surpassing Portugal captain Cristiano Ronaldo’s goal-scoring record at Real Madrid.
Haaland netted twice against Brentford in Saturday’s Premier League clash, bringing his season total to nine goals. Those two strikes also pushed his overall tally to 99 goals in 103 appearances since joining Manchester City in the summer of 2022.
If Haaland finds the back of the net in his next match, he will set a new record for the fastest player to reach 100 goals for a club. The current record is held by Ronaldo, who achieved 100 goals for Real Madrid in 105 games during his spell at the Santiago Bernabéu.
Haaland will have the chance to break Ronaldo’s record when Manchester City face Inter Milan in the Champions League on Wednesday. If he doesn’t score in that game, the 24-year-old can still match Ronaldo’s record during City’s Premier League encounter with Arsenal at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday.
