The body of Hajiya Dada, mother of the late President Umaru Musa Yar’adua, was laid to rest on Tuesday at the Danmarna Cemetery, where her late husband, Musa Yar’adua, and her two deceased sons, Shehu Musa Yar’adua and President Umaru Musa Yar’adua, are also buried.
The funeral prayer, led by Imam Aminu Yammawa, took place at the Yar’adua Quarters outside her residence at approximately 1:30 p.m., in accordance with Islamic rites organized by the family.
Among the dignitaries in attendance were Vice President Senator Kashim Shettima, former Vice President Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, Labour Party Presidential Candidate in the 2023 General Elections Mr. Peter Obi, former Governor of Sokoto State Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, and Senator Abdul Ningi, along with other top officials, politicians, academics, and business leaders.
Earlier in the day, Katsina State Governor Dikko Radda received a delegation led by former Vice President Alhaji Atiku Abubakar for the burial. The delegation was welcomed at the Katsina Government House, also known as General Muhammadu Buhari House. The delegation included former Sokoto State Governor Senator Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, Senator Abdul Ningi, Senator Umar Tsauri, and former Secretary to the Katsina State Government Alhaji Mustapha Inuwa.
Hajiya Dada, who was also the mother of the late Shehu Musa Yar’adua and Senator Abdul Aziz Musa Yar’adua, the current Chairman of the Senate Committee on Army and Senator representing Katsina Central Constituency, passed away on Monday evening after a brief illness at the Federal Teaching Hospital in Katsina.
