Hakimi set to face trial over rape allegation, denies claim
Moroccan international footballer Achraf Hakimi is set to stand trial in France over a rape allegation he has strongly denied.
The Paris Saint-Germain F.C. defender and Morocco national team star maintained his innocence in a statement shared on social media platform X on Tuesday, insisting the accusation against him is false.
“Today, a rape accusation is enough to justify a trial, even though I deny it and everything proves it’s false,” Hakimi wrote. “This is as unjust to the innocent as it is to genuine victims. I calmly await this trial, which will allow the truth to come out publicly.”
The Nanterre Prosecutor’s Office opened an investigation into the case in 2023 after a complaint alleging rape was filed against the player.
Authorities have yet to provide further details regarding the trial timeline, and prosecutors did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
