Mike Tyson, the former professional boxer, has praised mixed martial arts fighter Francis Ngannou following Ngannou’s split decision loss to heavyweight champion Tyson Fury.

Tyson, who had previously been Ngannou’s trainer and had expressed his belief in Ngannou’s knockout power in a previous interview.

“He has what it takes to knock out anything or anybody standing in his way. Once he lands a punch on Tyson Fury’s jaw he is going to knock him out too. Nobody can survive that.”

In a post shared on his social media handle (formerly Twitter), Tyson described Fury as “the true champ of the evening.”

In their recent boxing match in Saudi Arabia on Sunday, the world heavyweight champion, Fury, triumphed over the mixed martial arts fighter Ngannou in a split decision. Ngannou had managed to knock Fury down in the third round, but the 35-year-old British fighter, although shaken, was able to continue.

Fury, who had playfully dismissed his opponent as a “big fat sausage” earlier in the week, later acknowledged that the 37-year-old Cameroonian had effectively disrupted his game plan.
