Barely 24 hours after an inferno left about 30 shops in ruins, another heavy downpour on Tuesday destroyed scores of houses in Irepodun Local Government Area of Kwara State.
Places worst hit by the rainstorm this time around include Oro, Iludun-Oro and Esie communities.
The rainstorm also pulled down electricity poles leaving the entire communities in darkness.
Areas affected the most in Oro town during the storm that lasted about one hour from 3 pm include Saint Andrew Church, Abegun compound and Balogun square, among others
It was also gathered that a house belonging to one Hon Shina Afolabi, roofed a day earlier, was completely blown off by the rampaging storm.
Speaking on the development, the zonal spokesperson, Oro Community, Mr Niyi Adekanye, said the incident has thrown the entire Oro and its environs into total darkness and appealed to the state government to come to their aid.
‘The damage done to us is almost incalculable both individually and collectively as the case of Hon Shina Afolabi who just completed the entire roofing of his house on Tuesday before the incident and several others who have lost houses and have their buildings destroyed in the process.
”We are therefore appealing to the state government and public-spirited individuals to come to our aid.
“We have been in darkness since the storm has destroyed electric poles and cables,” he added.
