Residents of Abuja satellite towns such as Nyanya, Karu, Jikowyi, Kurudu, Orozo, Karshi, and neighboring Mararaba, Masaka in Nasarawa State, who are public and private workers are currently groaning in pains inside vehicles and by the roadsides as gridlock returned on the ever-busy Abuja–Kugbo-Nyanya Keffi road.
The bottleneck is said to have arisen due to inability of both private and passenger vehicles to access Abuja.
At the time of this report, the long queues of vehicles which started at the AYA side of Abuja road, had stretched to Mararaba in Nasarawa State.
There has been no official statement on the sudden appearance of the gridlock but officials of the Federal Road Safety Corps were seen heading for Abuja axis to identify and proffer remedy for the standstill.
Expectedly, commercial motorcycle operators, popularly known as Okada are capitalising on the traffic jam to make brisk businesses.
A drop from Nyanya, which used to cost N200, has now attracted N500 where available.
Several workers who could no longer bear the pains having stood for more than four hours by the roadsides are returning home.
