Hon Alli: A reference point in modern day democracy

Many young men and women have assumed the positions of local government chairmen/chairpersons since the arrival of a full fledged democracy in Nigeria in 1999 but all we could see during their tenures were abysmal performances and abandonment of their people who voted or influenced their appointments in offices.Under them, most Nigerians, especially the young ones were confused on what democracy was all about as they felt what they were experiencing was different from what they were taught about Democracy while in schools.

For the first time in our democratic history, ‘Democracy’ which is defined by great scholars and researchers as ‘the Government of the people by the people and for the people’ is being witnessed under the tutelage of Hon George Alli, the workaholic Caretaker Chairman of Otukpo Local Government Area of Benue state.

The Gburugburu I as he is fondly called, a name associated with excellent performance has so far lived beyond expectation since his emergence as the Otukpo local government Chairman through massive infrastructural provisions in the areas of health,Education,agriculture, roads and poverty alleviation.

Hon Alli’s benevolence and philanthropic work is second to none.His assistance to people cuts across the 3 senatorial districts of Benue State regardless to status,tribe or religion.This is the singular reason for the massive love for him by the good people of the state,from zone A to C.

The unanimous endorsement of Hon George Alli by the people of his Otukpo local govt, from Otukpo Upu to Adoka/Ugboju as their sole candidate in the forthcoming local council poll is an indication of the great his people have for him. For the people, Hon Alli is a rare Democratic gem and will be selected/elected again!, again!!, and again!!! because of his great performance.

For Hon George Alli, excellent performance is the secret behind his continuous love by his people and the people across other political zones in Benue State, most especially the youths.

Hon Alli has become a Rally point in our Modern Day Democracy through his excellent performance that one needs to follow in order to bring dividends of Democracy to the doorsteps of his/her people.

As Hon Alli took a giant step towards taking his people to where they ought to be through the purchase of Nomination and Expression of Interest forms for Chairmanship of his local government at the Benue State PDP Secretariat yesterday as the first Aspirant to do so, may God protect, bless and grant him the opportunity to complete the good work he has started.
