The Member-elect Hon. Godday Samuel congratulates Nigerians and the good people of his constituent and Benue state on the 20th anniversary of unbroken democratic government in the country.
In his words while addressing Young Democrats that paid him courtesy call today at his residence in Abuja, the leader of the Young Democrats Mr. Echo Emmanuel, remarked that, the philanthropist cum politician said, “Today’s occasion gives us reason to celebrate the restoration of democracy to Nigeria. It signifies an end to military rule and beginning of democratic system of government”.
So, in essence, it is to celebrate freedom. Freedom from tyranny and exploitation. Freedom towards equality, equity, good governance and representation.
It is freedom of the people, by the people and for the people.
In words, “I am of the strong belief that this freedom, is a new found thing, most felt in my food basket of the nation, Benue.
Today is also a day to honour the struggles, determination and most especially sacrifices paid on the path of this freedom. On this, I salute the resilience of my people back at home, and Nigeria in general, as they rightly fought for their democratic rights and freedom during the last general elections”.
Amidst the uncertainties, he said they kept alive their struggles from the beginning to the end to achieve that. I give them my utmost commendation.
I hereby make this promise to my people, that the mandate and confidence reposed in me will be judiciously used to serve their interest by the grace of God. I will justify exceedingly through selfless and quality representation. I shall also make it mandatory upon myself to work with fellow Federal Lawmakers from my State and our Governor, in order to capably overcome the huge challenge of rebuilding my constituency after so many years of siege from the marauding herdsmen so as to meet the yearnings and expectations of our people.
To all Nigerians, I pledge my possible best and untiring commitments, at all times, to relentlessly pursue the enactment of laws that are crucial and important to the development of our country.
