A fire reportedly erupted last night at the well-known ‘Samsung Plaza’ located near Banex Junction in the Wuse 2 area of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja.
The cause of the fire, which began at approximately 8 pm, remains unknown at this time. Observers witnessed workers and bystanders rushing to salvage belongings while security personnel and firefighting services worked to control the blaze.
Reports indicate that individuals attempting to steal from the burning plaza clashed with security personnel and first responders on the scene.
Nkechi Isa, the Public Relations Officer of the FCT Emergency Management Agency, confirmed the incident during a telephone conversation. She expressed strong disapproval of the assault on first responders by criminals who were looting the premises, noting, “Hoodlums attacked personnel from the Federal Fire Service who were dispatched to extinguish the fire, prompting them to seek assistance from the Police and NSCDC.”
